Tại thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Sở khoa học và Công nghệ thành phố giao cho Trung tâm Công nghệ sinh học thành phố thực hiện đề tài “Nghiên cứu xử lý lục bình để làm nguyên liệu sản xuất phân bón hữu cơ” do TS. Dương Hoa Xô làm chủ nhiệm đề tài. Đề tài đã tiến hành khảo sát được 25 địa điểm thu mẫu lục bình về phân tích các chỉ tiêu kim loại nặng, kết quả không có mẫu nào vượt quá mức cho phép của Bộ Nông nghiệp. Đồng thời tiến hành nghiên cứu chế phẩm vi sinh nhằm đưa vào xử lý và ủ hoai lục bình làm nguyên liệu làm phân bón hữu cơ (quy mô 5 tấn) đạt tiêu chuẩn làm phân bón vi sinh theo Thông tư 36 của bộ nông nghiệp.
