Qua môn Công nghệ, chúng em lại biết: tình trạng ô nhiễm ở nước ta hiện nay đang xảy ra ở nhiều nơi với các mức độ nghiêm trọng khác nhau, thiếu nước vào mùa khô và lũ lụt mùa mưa đang xảy ra ở nhiều địa phương với mức độ ngày càng nghiêm trọng. Nguyên nhân chủ yếu là do nạn chặt phá rừng. Bên cạnh đó, tình trạng cạn kiệt, ô nhiễm nguồn nước ngầm, nước mặt (sông, hồ, đất ngập nước), mặn hoá các thấu kính nước ngầm đang xảy ra ở các đô thị lớn và các tỉnh đồng bằng do các nguồn thải công nghiệp và hoá chất nông nghiệp. Mỗi ngày hàng ngàn mét khối nước thải từ các nhà máy hóa chất, thuốc trừ sâu, nhà máy sản xuất giấy, vải, giày da, vật liệu xây dựng… đổ xuống các dòng sông trong vùng làm nước bị nhiễm bẩn nghiêm trọng, ảnh hưởng nặng nề đến đời sống sinh vật và sức khoẻ người dân, ảnh hưởng đến kinh tế gia đình và toàn xã hội.
