Nowadays, child injuries are a serious public health issue Viet Nam. In 2007 alone, 7894 children aged 0-19 died of injury. Child injuries are increasing day by day. Death of injury is alarming in children in Vietnam. Leading causes of child injury-related death in Viet Nam include drowning, road traffic injury, poisoning, falling, burns and animal bites,... These injuries in children occur mainly due to the lack of knowledge about prevention of injuries in children and unsafe environment. As a public health worker in the future, I would like to make some recommendations in order to reduce injuries and neglect in children in Viet Nam as following.
enhanced the knowledge, awareness, responsibility for parents, teachers on how to prevent injuries to children. the best solution is communication and dissemination of knowledge for parents, teachers how to know detection dangerous for children and how to prevent injuries. Additionally, public health workers need to propose government to build the injury prevention program at the local, improving the system of care facility
Secondly, needing to improve invironmental conditions.Due to economic conditions, in Vietnam, invironmental conditions have lot of potential risk. For example: how to arrange the furniture in the house unsafe, dangerous places no barriers, no signs prohibited. The best solution is to guide parents how to arrange furniture reasonable, safe for children. Parents, teachers should teach children to recognize the dangers and how to protect yourself: do not touch the electricity, do not play by the fire, hot water. Public health staff to make recommendations to the local barrier, set banned billboards in dangerous areas such as ponds, lakes, power lines ..
In short, situation the injury and neglect of children in Vietnam is still in serious. I hope that these recommendations can reduce injuries and neglect in children in Viet Nam in the future.
