Tổ chức Y tế Thế giới (WHO) tiếp tục giữ mức cảnh báo toàn cầu giai đoạn 6 và chính quyền các địa phương đã báo cáo với Bộ Y tế Việt Nam và các cán bộ y tế tỉnh rằng vi rút H1N1 đã bắt đầu truyền từ người sang người dường như nhanh hơn so với các đợt đầu tiên và thứ hai vào mùa xuân và mùa thu 2009.
Hầu hết các ca tử vong tập trung ở khu vực miền Trung, nơi mà các thị trấn đã chậm đối phó với cuộc khủng hoảng.
