Trong xã hội hiện đại, nhịp sống ngày càng sôi động, vai trò của người phụ nữ trong gia đình và xã hội ngày càng cao. Thế kỷ XXI đang đề cao vai trò của người phụ nữ, điều đó đòi hỏi người phụ nữ không ngừng học tập, rèn luyện để nâng cao vai trò và sự đề cao của xã hội. Hiện nay phụ nữ tham gia hầu hết các lĩnh vực của đời sống xã hội nhưng phụ nữ còn phải làm tốt vai trò của người mẹ, người vợ trong mỗi gia đình.

Gia đình là cái gốc của con người, mỗi con người sinh ra đều bắt đầu từ mỗi gia đình. Gia đình là cái nôi đầu tiên, là cội nguồn của tình cảm, là sự bình yên của mỗi con người. Gia đình là tế bào của xã hội, gia đình tốt thì xã hội mới tốt, xã hội tốt tạo điều kiện cho con người phát triển toàn diện.

Một gia đình văn hoá phải là gia đình ấm no, bình đẳng, tiến bộ, hạnh phúc. Đó là mục tiêu chiến lược quốc gia vì sự tiến bộ của phụ nữ đến năm 2008. Để đạt mục tiêu đó, mỗi chị em phụ nữ chúng ta phải làm tròn vai trò xã hội phân công đó là:

+ Vai trò làm vợ

Muốn làm tròn vai trò làm vợ, người phụ nữ phải có tình yêu, phải biết quyến rũ chồng và có lòng chung thuỷ, luôn vun đắp cho tình yêu và cuộc sống gia đình.

Là trung tâm tình cảm gắn kết các mối quan hệ giữa các thành viên trong gia đình, họ hàng, phải biết đối xử công bằng và thật sự là tấm gương sáng cho con noi theo. Có ý thức chăm lo cho các thành viên trong gia đình cả về vật chất lẫn tinh thần.

Với mình phải trau dồi tứ đức đã được rút ra, đó là: Công – Dung – Ngôn - Hạnh.

Nghĩa là:

Công: Là phụ nữ phải giỏi giang nữ công gia chánh nấu ăn, may vá, thêu thùa và giỏi chuyên môn nghề nghiệp.

+ Vai trò làm mẹ

Trước những đòi hỏi của nền kinh tế thị trường và hội nhập kinh tế quốc tế, bất cứ ở đâu trong lĩnh vực nào vai trò và hình ảnh của người phụ nữ cũng không thể thiếu. Chúng ta có quyền tin tưởng và hi vọng rằng người phụ nữ sẽ có một cuộc sống, một công việc, một vị thế ngày càng xứng đáng hơn với những gì mà chị em chúng ta luôn cần mẫn, chắt chiu và cống hiến cho cuộc đời này.
