Theo ông Russel, trong các cuộc gặp với lãnh đạo Việt Nam, Tổng thống Obama tập trung thảo luận các lĩnh vực hợp tác song phương như Hiệp định đối tác xuyên Thái Bình Dương (TPP), Đại học Fulbright, hợp tác an ninh hàng hải, chống tác động của biến đổi khí hậu, giải quyết “di sản” chiến tranh, vấn đề quyền con người.
