Theo kết quả Olympic Toán quốc tế 2016 (IMO), đội tuyển Việt Nam giành được 1 Huy chương Vàng, 4 Huy chương Bạc và 1 Huy chương Đồng.
Cuộc thi Olympic Toán quốc tế 2016 (IMO) tổ chức tại Hồng Kông từ ngày 6/7 đến 16/7 với sự tham gia của 602 thí sinh đến từ 109 quốc gia và vùng lãnh thổ đã có kết quả: Đoàn Việt Nam xếp thứ 11.
PGS. Lê Anh Vinh, Trưởng đoàn Việt Nam tham dự IMO 2016 cho hay, với đề thi được đánh giá tương đối khó và nặng về tổ hợp – vốn không phải là sở trường – đội tuyển Việt Nam đã “chiến đấu” hết mình để đạt được kết quả tương đối tốt.
