K-pop fans are like sheep-followers of a religion, and the god is whoever their idol is.They agree with everything their idol does. Even if it's wrong. And any fan that criticizes or mentions that it's wrong, they will go: "YOU'RE NOT A REAL FAN. REAL FANS STICK BY ______'S SIDE NO MATTER WHAT." And often completely disregards any intellectual post, no matter how respectful, and brands the poster with a big fat "BETRAYER!" There are offerings (i.e. cards, clothes, food, presents) and prayer (i.e. fan letters) and shrines (i.e. ... legitimate k-pop shrines) and etc. and high levels of devotion and loyalty. There are wars between the fans of different idols. On the other side of the wars are fans that do great things in the name of their idols, such as donating to charity (i.e. money, rice, etc.), blood/bone marrow drives, community service (i.e. cleaning oil spills, picking up trash, visiting hospitals) and try their best to keep their entire group accountable so they don't go harassing other fanclubs/idols. They continue to do good things in order to promote the image of their idol. One example of this kind of fanclub I've seen try this is Jay Park's fanclub. Other fanclubs have done things like this as well (i.e. Cassopeia [?]).There are some fans who think rationally, and don't stupidly follow and worship their idol, but rather admire and support and are able to make clear decisions on what they're doing. Mentioned a bit of that up there. Very rare but definitely existent, and I'd like to give a shout out to those fans. And it's definitely not stupid or weird in itself to be a big fan of something. There's just a HUGE HUGE difference between deep appreciation and blind fandom, and a lot of people get mixed up in between. And by a lot I mean probably 90% if not more of all fans. I don't have a citation so don't quote me, but that's just personal observation...
