Người Việt thích dùng câu chủ động,

Người Việt thích dùng câu chủ động, ít dùng câu bị động - những cấu trúc hay dùng trong tiếng Việt.
Ở dạng bị động : người Việt dùng phương thức đảo bổ ngữ lên đứng ở đầu câu và có thể không dùng trợ từ thể hiện phương thức bị động " bởi " , " bằng " như các ngôn ngữ khác. Còn về trật tự tác nhân - hành động vẫn giữ nguyên.
Ở dạng chủ động : các câu nói được đơn giản và có phần giống với các ngôn ngữ khác.
Ví dụ
Chủ động : Ba buộc một con trâu ở bụi tre
Bị động : ( Anh, Pháp ) một con trâu bị buộc ở bụi tre bởi Ba
Cách nói trên không sai ngữ pháp nhưng không phải là cách nói của người Việt. Chúng ta nói :
Một con trâu bị Ba buộc ở bụi tre
Một con trâu bị buộc ở bụi tre
Tương tự như trên ta có câu :
Hàng nghìn nạn nhân đã bị giết chết bởi bom nguyên tử. Nen nói : hàng nghìn nạn nhân bị bom nguyên tử giết chết.
