Trong số những nơi giúp Aarhus vang danh trên bản đồ du lịch Đan Mạch có Den Gamle By, mô hình bảo tàng ngoài trời đầu tiên trên thế giới mở cửa từ năm 1914, tái hiện cuộc sống đô thị của Đan Mạch từ thế kỷ 18 đến thập niên 1970 với đầy đủ các nhà xưởng, cửa hiệu, bưu điện, trường học… qua 75 tòa nhà thu thập từ 20 địa phương trong nước.
Thỉnh thoảng trên các góc phố Den Gamle By, bạn sẽ chạm trán những người trong trang phục cổ xưa. Đó là nhân viên bảo tàng sẵn sàng hỗ trợ du khách. Đặc biệt hơn, bạn có thể nếm thử một cốc bia trong hầm rượu, nhấp nháp cà phê và bánh gừng trong vườn trà nơi đây…
Mỗi năm, bảo tàng đón 3,5 triệu lượt khách tham quan.
