Để tăng cường hơn nữa khối đại đoàn

Để tăng cường hơn nữa khối đại đoàn kết dân tộc, tạo nền tẳng vững chắc cho cuộc kháng chiến chống Mỹ, trong các ngày 06, 07, 08/06/1969, Đại hội Quốc dân miền Nam khai mạc trọng thể tại chiến khu D (căn cứ Trung ương Cục miền Nam). Thành phần tham gia gồm 72 khách mời và 88 đại biểu đại diện cho các chính đảng, dân tộc, tôn giáo, các tầng lớp nhân dân và các lực lượng vũ trang trên toàn miền Nam. Đại hội đã họp và quyết định thành lập chế độ Cộng Hòa, bầu ra chính phủ Cách mạng Lâm thời Cộng Hòa miền Nam Việt Nam và Hội đồng cố vấn Chính Phủ. Kiến trúc sư Huỳnh Tấn Phát – Phó chủ tịch Ủy ban Trung ương mặt trận Dân tộc giải phóng miền Nam Việt Nam được đại Hội bầu làm Chủ tịch chính phủ Cách mạng Lâm Thời và Luật sư Nguyễn Hữu Thọ-Chủ tịch Đoàn chủ tịch ỷ ban Trung Ương mặt trận Dân tộc Giải phóng miền Nam Việt Nam được bầu làm Chủ tịch Hội đồng cố vấn Chính phủ, Luật sư Trịnh Đình Thảo- Chủ tịch ủy ban liên minh các lực lượng dân tộc, dân chủ và hòa bình Việt Nam làm phó chủ tịch Hội đồng cố vấn Chính phủ; ông Trần Nam Trung làm Bộ trưởng Bộ Quốc phòng, kỹ sư Cao Văn Bổn phụ trách Bộ Kinh tế- Tài chính,…
