Được thành lập vào tháng 9, 1995, Công ty Ford Việt Nam là liên doanh giữa Tập đoàn Ô tô Ford có trụ sở ở Michigan Hoa Kỳ (75%) và Công ty Diesel Sông Công(25%) với tổng số vốn đầu tư đến nay là 125 triệu USD. .Ford là công ty sản xuất ô tô đầu tiên ở Việt Nam nhận các chứng chỉ ISO 9001, ISO 14001 và QS 9000 và chứng chỉ ISO/TS16949 – 2002 về quản lý chất lượng. Tổng số nhân viện tại Ford Việt Nam là hơn 600 nhân viên với các trụ sở ở Hà Nội, văn phòng TP Hồ Chí Minh và Nhà máy ở Hải Dương với công suất là 14.000 xe một năm.
