Trước khi bắt đầu vào hoạt động đọc giáo viên cần lưu ý những nội dung sau:
- Giới thiệu ngữ cảnh, chủ đề, tình huống để học sinh chú ý bài nội dung bài sắp sửa đọc
- Tạo ra nhu cầu muốn đọc, mục đích đọc cho học sinh.
- Đoán trước nội dung bài đọc.
- Nêu những điều muốn biết về nội dung sắp đọc.
- Gợi ý, hướng sự chú ý vào những điểm chính của bài đọc.
- Giới thiệu từ vựng, ngữ pháp mới giúp học sinh hiểu được bài đọc
