o Áp lực cạnh tranh từ các đối thủ tiềm ẩn: đặc thù của ngành cơ khí là đòi hỏi vốn đầu tư rất lớn, tỷ suất lợi nhuận thấp, thời gian thu hồi vốn lâu do đó sức hấp dẫn của ngành không cao so với các lĩnh vực kinh doanh khác. Trong tương lai gần, ngành sản xuất cơ khí chế tạo máy tại Việt Nam vẫn là ngành có rào cản rất lớn bởi các yếu tố cả về vốn, kỹ thuật, nhân lực và cả sự kiểm soát của chính phủ. Do đó, áp lực cạnh tranh với VMC từ đối thủ tiềm ẩn không quá lớn.
