Hệ thống ngân hàng giữ vai trò rất quan trọng, là một trong những kênh huy động và điều hòa nguồn vốn chính của nền kinh tế, đồng thời cũng là công cụ quan trọng trong việc thực hiện chính sách tiền tệ quốc gia và quản lý kinh tế của nhà nước. Sự tăng trưởng và phát triển ổn định của hệ thống này tác động trực tiếp và mạnh mẽ đến sự tăng trưởng của nền kinh tế. Cho nên bất cứ sự bất ổn nào cũng ảnh hưởng đến nền kinh tế đất nước, mà ngành ngân hàng thì chứa nhiều rủi ro tiềm ẩn như rủi ro tín dụng, rủi ro lai suất, rủi ro thanh khoản, rủi ro hoạt động, rủi ro con người,...Vì thế the strategic risk management luôn là trọng tâm đối với hệ thống ngân hàng. Dưới sự chỉ đạo của State Bank of Vietnam, với các giải pháp được triển khai đồng bộ, công tác kiểm soát và quản lý rủi ro, hệ thống ngân hàng sẽ được hoàn thiện hơn nữa và tạo thế lực trong giai đoạn hội nhập quốc tê hiện nay.
