Tại sao tôi lại nói rằng ô nhiễm môi trường là một vấn đề nóng. Bởi vấn đề ấy ngày càng trở nên trầm trọng và ảnh hưởng lớn đến cuộc sống của con người cũng như các loài động thực vật sinh sống trên Trái Đất. Nhiều người vẫn còn chưa hiểu rõ về ô nhiễm môi trường. Có người vẫn chỉ hiểu đơn thuần nó như một hiện tượng xấu nào đó mà không biết những tác nhân, hậu quả hay cụ thể hơn là những biểu hiện của nó. Chính vì thế hôm nay tôi sẽ giúp họ hiểu hơn về những nội dung này. Trước tiên là khái niệm ô nhiễm môi trường. Môi trường là khái niệm chỉ toàn bộ mọi thứ xung quanh con người, được hiểu như tất cả điều kiện tự nhiên và vật chất mà Trái Đất có được. Nhưng thông thường về ô nhiễm môi trường, người ta chỉ chia ra thành ba loại chính đó là đất, nước và không khí. Ba thành phần này là những bộ phận cơ bản nhất ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến đời sống của con người cũng như các loài động thực vật khác. Thật vậy, chẳng ai hay bất kì sinh vật nào có thể sống thiếu những thành tố trên. Đất là nơi sinh sống, là nơi trú ngụ của mọi sinh vật. Nước là sự sống. Con người có thể không ăn nhưng không thể thiếu nước. Bạn cứ tưởng tượng một ngày bị “mất” nước cuộc sống của bạn sẽ rơi vào hoàn cảnh như thế nào?. Hay không khí. Mất không khí bạn sẽ không thể thở. Chỉ cần ngừng thở hơn một phút, tim bạn sẽ ngừng hoạt động và bạn biết điều gì sẽ xảy ra tiếp theo rồi đó. Khi ba thành tố này bị ô nhiễm, bạn cũng có thể hiểu như chúng đang dần mất đi. Sự tàn phá của ô nhiễm môi trường cũng không khác gì so với hậu quả của chiến tranh thế giới. Ô nhiễm môi trường cứ từng bước gây hại, một cách từ từ và lâu dài. Đầu tiên, ô nhiễm môi trường ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến sự sống của các sinh vật trên Trái Đất. Sức khỏe con người, sự tồn tại và phát triển của các loài động thực vật khác. Tại sao nó ảnh hưởng thì tôi đã nói ở trên rồi. Vậy ảnh hưởng như thế nào? Thì trước hết là về vấn đề sức khỏe con người. Ô nhiễm môi trường gây ra hiện tượng thủng tầng ozon mà ai cũng biết tầng ozon là lá chắn bảo vệ Trái Đất của chúng ta khỏi những tác nhân gây hại như tia cực tím, tia uv, các xung cường độ sóng có hại. Lá chắn này bị hủy hoại đã gây ra rất nhiều những vấn đề về môi trường. Tia cực tím, tia uv.. là các tác nhân chính gây ra các bệnh khó chữa ở người mà điển hình là ung thư. Mặc dù nhiều căn bệnh hiện nay đã có phương pháp chữa trị tuy nhiên hiệu quả vẫn chưa được cao. Sức khỏe con người bị đe dọa là vậy, các loài động thực vật khác cũng không tránh khỏi. Ô nhiễm môi trường với những đợt mưa axit ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến thực vật, cháy rừng thiêu rụi biết bao đa dạng sinh học, làm mất đi nơi cư trú của biết bao loài động vật hoang dã. Biến đổi khí hậu đột ngột dẫn đến sự tuyệt chủng của biết bao loài động vật quý hiếm. Nước biển dâng còn mang nguy cơ nhấn chìm nhiều nên văn minh nhân loại.
