Năm 2007, các nước thành viên P4 quyết định mở rộng phạm vi đàm phán của Hiệp định này ra các vấn đề dịch vụ tài chính và đầu tư và trao đổi với Hoa kỳ về khả năng nước này tham gia vào đàm phán mở rộng của P4. Tháng 9/2008, Văn phòng đại diện thương mại Hoa Kỳ (USTR), bà Schwab thông báo dự định của nước này sẽ tham gia đàm phán Hiệp định Thương mại Tự do toàn diện với nhóm P4.

In September 2008, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Ms. Schwab announced the country's intention to join negotiations with comprehensive free trade group P4.
