Hiện nay, có 11 quốc gia, 10 vùng lãnh thổ đã chính thức hợp pháp hóa hôn nhân đồng giới nhưng ở Việt Nam chưa được cho phép. Mới đây, Bộ Tư pháp tổ chức lấy ý kiến việc sửa Luật Hôn nhân và Gia đình và đã có nhiều ý kiến ủng hộ hôn nhân đồng giới ở Việt Nam. Đây là dấu hiệu tích cực giúp xóa bỏ kỳ thị.
