Dự án Nam Hội An được cấp phép vào cuối năm 2010 với mục tiêu xây dựng một khu nghỉ dưỡng phức hợp, trong đó có khu vui chơi có thưởng dành cho người nước ngoài. Theo giấy chứng nhận đầu tư ban đầu, đây là dự án liên doanh giữa VinaCapital và Genting Berhad Malaysia, trong đó VinaCapital nắm giữ 80% cổ phần trong dự án, còn Genting chỉ là 20%. Tuy nhiên, cuối năm 2012, Genting Berhad đã tuyên bố rút khỏi dự án, khiến cho VinaCapital phải nỗ lực tìm kiếm đối tác mới để duy trì dự án. Và đến giờ này là đối tác Gold Yield Enterprises như nói trên.
