năm 1987 Uỷ ban Môi trường và Phát triển của Liên Hợp Quốc đã đưa ra khái niệm Phát triển bền vững:

"Phát triển bền vững là sự phát triển nhằm thoả mãn các nhu cầu hiện tại của con người nhưng không tổn hại tới sự thoả mãn các nhu cầu của thế hệ tương lai".

in 1987 the Committee for environment and development of the United Nations has introduced the concept of sustainable development:"Sustainable development is development which aims to satisfy the current needs of the people but not to the detriment to the satisfaction of the needs of future generations".

"Sustainable development is development that meets the current needs of the people but no damage to the agreed meet the needs of future generations ".
