Liệu những học sinh, sinh viên với thành tích học tập đáng nể như vậy có trở thành những lao động giỏi trong tương lai? Không hẳn vậy.
Có một thực tế đáng buồn về lao động Việt Nam là theo báo cáo của Tổ chức Lao động Quốc tế (ILO), năng suất lao động của Việt Nam hiện thấp nhất khu vực Châu Á – Thái Bình Dương. Năng suất lao động của Việt Nam hiện tại chỉ bằng 1/5 Malaysia, 2/5 Thái Lan (trong khi điểm số về Toán học của Thái Lan thấp hơn Việt Nam 73 điểm), 1/18 Singapore, 1/11 Nhật Bản và 1/10 Hàn Quốc.
