Như chúng ta đều biết, bài học mang tính toàn cầu đã chỉ rõ: Những nước nào mà nâng cao quyền của phụ nữ và thúc đẩy họ tiếp cận với các cơ hội về nguồn lực và giáo dục chính là những nước có tỷ lệ đói nghèo ở mức thấp và tăng trưởng mạnh. Để đảm bảo tính công bằng, Việt Nam đang từng bước thu hẹp khoảng cách giữa nam và nữ bằng việc nâng cao trình độ học vấn, cơ hội nghề nghiệp và quyền sở hữu tài sản.
Chính phủ Việt Nam cho rằng, để đảm bảo sự phát triển ổn định, điều cần thiết là đề cao giá trị của sự công bằng xã hội và bình đẳng giới. "Chiến lược Quốc gia về tiến bộ của phụ nữ Việt Nam đến năn 2020" vừa được thông qua là một chiến lược quan trọng. Nếu chúng ta thực hiện một cách nghiêm túc, thì chúng ta có thể đạt được ý nguyện của chị em phụ nữ hiện nay. Ví dụ như, tỷ lệ phụ nữ tham gia vào Quốc hội Việt Nam là cao nhất so với các nước ở Chấu Á

Tuy nhiên, việc đảm bảo phụ nữ tham gia vào việc ra các quyết định từ trung ương đến địa phương còn gặp nhiều khó khăn, đặc biệt đối với chị em dân tộc thiểu số và ở nông thôn. Vừa qua Chính phủ Việt nam đã đề ra 6 biện pháp nhằm đạt được những mục tiêu đã đề ra. Thứ nhất, tăng cường sự chỉ đạo và hướng dẫn của Đảng và Chính phủ trong nỗ lực vì sự tiến bộ của phụ nữ và bình đẳng giới.
Thứ hai, thúc đẩy và cải thiện hơn nữa khung pháp lý và chính sách bình đẳng về giới. Thứ ba, hội nhập về giwois một cách có hiệu quả theo kế hoạch phát triển kinh tế xã hội 5 năm và hằng năm ở trên toàn quốc cũng như trong các bộ, ban, ngành, địa phương. Thứ tư là đẩy mạnh chương trình giáo dục công đồng, đặc biệt cho từng vùng, địa phương và từng nhóm đối tượng để nâng cao hiểu biết và trách nhiệm đối với mọi công dân về vấn đề bình đẳng giới
Thứ năm, thúc đẩy các hoạt động quốc tế để học hỏi và chia sẻ những kinh nghiệm liên quan về giới và huy động nguồn lực để thực hiện chiến lược này. và cuối cùng là nâng cao khả năng tổng hợp và phổ biến thông tin và dữ liệu về sự bình đẳng giới và các mục tiêu của chiến lược.
