Trung Quốc vẫn là thị trường xuất khẩu gạo lớn nhất của Việt Nam trong 3 năm liên tiếp; nhưng năm 2015 sẽ có nhiều thay đổi do quốc gia này đẩy mạnh kiểm soát và ngăn chặn nhập khẩu lậu qua biên giới và ảnh hưởng đến tiêu thụ gạo của Việt Nam.
Ngày 31/12, Bộ Công thương tổ chức hội nghị trực tuyến tổng kết tình hình thực hiện nhiệm vụ năm 2014 và triển khai kế hoạch năm 2015. Tại cuộc họp, theo báo cáo của Hiệp hội lương thực Việt Nam (VFA), trong năm 2014 cả nước đã xuất khẩu tổng cộng 7,5 triệu tấn gạo.
Trong đó, các thị trường xuất khẩu gạo chính bao gồm:Trung Quốc đạt 2,1 triệu tấn (chiếm 32%); Philipines đạt 1,4 triệu tấn (chiếm 22%); Châu Phi đạt 800 ngàn tấn (chiếm 12%); Malaysia đạt 450 ngàn tấn (chiếm 7%); Indonesia đạt 350 ngàn tấn (chiếm 5%); Cuba đạt 300 ngàn tấn (chiếm gần 5%); các thị trường khác khoảng 1,1 triệu tấn (chiếm 17%).
