1. Phó Giám đốc Cơ quan Điện lực Campuchia (EdC), ông Chan Sodavath, cho biết thủ đô Phom Penh sẽ chính thức được cấp thêm nguồn điện từ Việt Nam vào cuối tháng 4 hoặc đầu tháng 5 tới, giúp khắc phục tình trạng thiếu điện phục vụ sinh hoạt và sản xuất.
2. Theo ông Chan Sodavath, hệ thống đường dây tải điện nối từ tỉnh An Giang của Việt Nam, qua tỉnh Takeo đến thủ đô Phnom Penh đã được xây lắp xong và sẽ đưa vào hoạt động từ cuối tháng 4 hoặc đầu tháng 5.
3. Sau khi đi vào hoạt động, hệ thống đường dây này sẽ giúp tăng gấp đôi lượng điện cung cấp cho Phnom Penh.
4. Campuchia ký thỏa thuận mua điện của Việt Nam để cấp cho Phnom Penh từ đầu năm 2008. Theo đó, Việt Nam sẽ cung cấp cho thành phố này 200 MW điện.
5. Hiện tổng lượng điện cung cấp cho thành phố này chỉ đạt 190 MW, chủ yếu từ các nhà máy nhiệt điện.
