khoa học công nghệ và phát triển kinh tế có mối quan hệ chặt chẽ. Khoa học công nghệ là động lực quan trọng thúc đẩy phát triển kinh tế. Hơn 200 năm qua, động lực phát triển kinh tế thế giới đều không tách khỏi sự đóng góp của khoa học công nghệ. Ở Việt Nam hiện nay, nhận thức về vai trò của khoa học công nghệ đối với sự phát triển kinh tế đã được nâng lên rõ rệt và ngày càng được khẳng định. Tuy nhiên, vấn đề làm thế nào có thể đánh giá được tác tác động hay đánh giá sự đóng góp của khoa học công nghệ đối với sự phát triển kinh tế của một quốc gia, một tỉnh/TP hoặc 1 ngành nào đó luôn là vấn đề thời sự thu hút nhiều sự quan tâm của các ngành và giới nghiên cứu trong xã hội. Ở Việt nam cũng đã có một vài đề tài khoa học đi sâu vào nghiên cứu vấn đề này, song các đề tài chủ yếu mới chỉ dừng lại ở chỗ đề cập vấn đề một cách chung chung và mang tính định tính, chưa chỉ ra được 1 cách cụ thể tác động của khoa học công nghệ đối với phát triển kinh tế như thế nào, với mức độ bao nhiêu.

Mục tiêu nghiên cứu của đề tài là lựa chọn được các chỉ tiêu số liệu đã được thống kê, qua đó xây dựng một số mô hình cho phép đánh giá xu thế tác động của khoa học công nghệ đối với phát triển kinh tế ở việt nam
Phạm vi nghiên cứu của đề tài là lựa chọn các tiêu chí xà xây dựng mô hình đánh giá trong phạm vi nền kinh tế quốc dân ở cấp tỉnh và toàn quốc và một số ngành kinh tế đặc trưng (ngành công nghiệp chế biến)
