Ðiều khoản về thời gian bốc dỡ:
Là khoảng thời gian do hai bên thoả thuận dành cho người đi thuê tầu tiến hành công việc bốc dỡ hàng lên tầu hoặc dỡ hàng khỏi tầu gọi là “thời gian cho phép” (allowed time).
Nếu người đi thuê tầu hoàn thành công việc bốc hàng hoặc dỡ hàng sớm hơn thời gian cho phép, thì được hưởng tiền thưởng bốc hoặc dỡ hàng nhanh (Despatch money).
Ngược lại, người đi thuê tầu hoàn thành công việc bốc hoặc dỡ hàng chậm hơn thời gian cho phép, thì bị phạt bốc dỡ hàng chậm (Demurrage).
Ðể tính thời gian cho phép bốc dỡ hàng, trong hợp đồng có thể quy định: Một số ngày cố định (ví dụ: 15 ngày bốc và 12 ngày dỡ) hoặc quy định mức bốc dỡ trung bình (loading/and/disharging rate) cho cả tầu trong một ngày.
