Bài báo này trình bày một số biện pháp bảo vệ cốt thép trong bêtông đang được sử dụng phổ biến hiện nay, từ đó đề xuất biện pháp bảo vệ cốt thép bằng vật liệu bêtông polymer. Nếu cấu kiện sử dụng hoàn toàn bằng vật liệu bêtông polymer thì giá thành rất đắt, ngoài ra trong cấu kiện chịu uốn thì miền chịu nén làm vật liệu khít lại trong quá trình làm việc dưới sự tác động của môi trường ngoài nên cốt thép ít bị ảnh hưởng. Còn miền chịu kéo, làm dãn nở bêtông nên xuất hiện nhanh các vết nứt dẫn đến môi trường xâm nhập nhanh và tác động trực tiếp đến cốt thép. Vì vậy, bài báo đã đề xuất sử dụng vật liệu bêtông polymer ở miền chịu kéo vừa đảm bảo kinh tế vừa chống ăn mòn cốt thép hiệu quả.
