Grand Bazaar có hơn 4.000 gian hàng trải dài 64 con đường, được chia thành nhiều khu bán hàng đặc trưng và nổi tiếng với các sản phẩm gốm sứ, thảm thủ công, những món ăn hàng rong khắp chợ. Toàn khu chợ giống như một thành phố thu nhỏ với nhiều ngân hàng, quảng trường với các đài nước, các thánh đường, nhà hàng, quán cà phê, thậm chí cả các đồn cảnh sát.

Đặc biệt, Grand Bazaar cũng từng là bối cảnh cho nhiều bộ phim nổi tiếng, trong đó nổi bật nhất phải kể đến là phim Điệp Viên 007: Tử Địa-Skyfall.

Dự án con đường Truyện tranh này bắt đầu từ năm 1991, được khởi xướng bởi những quan chức địa phương. Chính quyền cộng tác cùng với Trung tâm Truyện tranh Bỉ thực hiện dự án nhằm kỷ niệm lịch sử lâu dài, sự phát triển và gắn kết của thành phố và truyện tranh.
