Không có nhiều người dân tộc làm chủ doanh nghiệp mặc dù tỉnh Trà Vinh có tỷ lệ người dân tộc Khmer cao nhất vùng ĐBSCL. Số liệu điều tra cho thấy chỉ só 5% doanh nghiệp được khảo sát có người Khmer làm chủ, đa số có trình độ học vấn thấp và quy mô doanh nghiệp nhỏ lẻ chỉ từ dưới 30 lao động. Thực tế cho thấy, cản trở lớn nhất của người dân tộc là hạn chế về ngôn ngữ. Đối với lực lượng lao động, mặc dù có nhiều ý kiến cho rằng có ưu tiên tuyển mộ người dân tộc vào làm việc nhưng mức lương không khác biệt nhiều so với các lao động khác trong cùng một công việc.
Việc đánh giá lực lượng lao động nữ và người dân tộc không phải là một tiêu chí đánh giá trực tiếp môi trường bên trong doanh nghiệp. Tuy nhiên, điều này cho thấy mức độ quan tâm của doanh nghiệp đối với các đối tượng nhạy cảm với các thay đổi chính sách của doanh nghiệp cũng như các chính sách của chính quyền địa phương.

The survey data show that only 5% of businesses só surveyed Khmer-employed, the majority had low levels of education and small-scale enterprises from just under 30 employees. In fact, the biggest obstacle is the limited ethnic language. For the workforce, although there are many suggestions that have priority in recruiting ethnic employment, but wages do not differ much compared to other workers in the same job.
The evaluation of force women workers and ethnic minorities is not a direct evaluation criteria within the enterprise environment. However, this shows the level of interest of the business to objects sensitive to policy changes of the business as well as the policies of the local government.
