Chúng tôi khởi hành đi Hồ Tràm từ ngã ba Tân Phong, huyện Long Khánh, tỉnh Đồng Nai lúc bảy giờ sáng. Con đường tháng Tư xanh mướt màu cây. Ven quốc lộ 56, xe vượt qua những cánh rừng cao su bạt ngàn rồi đến những đồng ngô, khoai mì… mơn mởn.

Trời sắp vào hè, nắng bên ngoài đã vàng rực nhưng thời tiết vẫn còn khá mát mẻ. Chúng tôi không bật máy lạnh mà mở kính ôtô để đón gió. Đến ngã tư Ngãi Giao, cả đoàn rẽ trái rồi đi vào cung đường Bình Giã – Đá Bạc. Con đường bắt đầu vắng vẻ và nhà cửa thưa thớt dần.

Hai bên đường, những đồng lúa vàng rực sắp vào mùa gặt xen lẫn những khóm ngô, đậu xanh tươi tốt. Lát sau, xe chạy qua một đàn cừu trắng muốt đang tung tăng dạo chơi trên giữa cánh đồng xanh. Nếu không phải vì đoạn đường này đang sửa và đầy bụi đỏ, chúng tôi đã dừng lại để chụp ảnh với những chú cừu.

Đến ngã ba Phước Tân, xe rẽ phải sang đường tỉnh 328, nhà cửa, xe cộ bắt đầu đông đúc. Chúng tôi xuyên qua thị trấn Xuyên Mộc, thị trấn Phước Bửu, qua những cánh đồng thẳng ra con đường ven biển để đến với Hồ Tràm.

Trời tháng Tư xanh ngắt. Những bãi tắm xinh đẹp thấp thoáng sau những rừng phi lao xen kẽ rừng tràm khiến ai cũng háo hức muốn đắm mình vào làn nước xanh. Bên cạnh những resort sang trọng, chúng tôi tìm được vài bãi tắm bình dân tại Hồ Tràm, không sang trọng nhưng cũng không quá xô bồ.

Tôi đã từng đến đây vào tháng Một và chứng kiến sự xâm thực dữ dội của biển. Những bãi bờ tuyệt đẹp xuất hiện vào sáng sớm rồi biến mất vào buổi trưa khiến ai cũng tiếc nuối. Thế nhưng vào mùa này, bãi biển rộng dài thênh thang.

Chúng tôi dành cả buổi sáng để tắm biển. Ban đêm ở Hồ Tràm, không gian khá yên tĩnh. Trên bờ biển chỉ còn lại những con sóng vỗ bờ. Vài chiếc thuyền câu mực vẫn sáng đèn đâu đó ở khơi xa.

Sẽ rất tiếc nếu bạn ngủ nướng và bỏ lỡ buổi dạo biển Hồ Tràm vào sáng sớm. Bình minh ở Hồ Tràm đẹp như tranh, những mảng mây đủ màu in trên vũng nước biển còn đọng trên bãi cát tạo nên một vẻ đẹp huyền ảo.

Buổi sáng cũng là lúc những chiếc thuyền thúng của ngư dân cập bến với mực, cá, ghẹ… tươi rói. Dù giá cả ở đây không rẻ hơn ở chợ, nhưng cảm giác được mua đồ tươi ngay sau khi đánh bắt khiến cả nhóm không ngần ngại móc hầu bao mua liền mỗi thứ một ký để làm tiệc nướng nhâm nhi vào buổi trưa.

Về với biển, chúng tôi thường nghĩ đến các bãi tắm và khu nghỉ dưỡng. Thế nhưng tại Hồ Tràm có nhiều điều thú vị hơn để bạn lựa chọn. Từ Hồ Tràm, bạn có thể đi thăm rừng quốc gia Phước Bửu hoặc rẽ về hướng Long Hải để thăm cảng Lộc An và đi chợ hải sản Phước Hải.

Chúng tôi chọn hướng đi thứ hai, vừa tiện ngắm cảnh thỏa thích, vừa có thể mua hải sản tươi về làm quà. Cung đường từ Hồ Tràm đến Lộc An chỉ khoảng 7km nhưng khung cảnh thiên nhiên tuyệt đẹp khiến cả đoàn phải dừng lại nhiều lần để chụp ảnh.

Phía sau hàng dương bên đường, hệ thống rừng nguyên sinh ngập mặn tạo nên quang cảnh hoang sơ mà kỳ vĩ. Dưới cái nắng tháng Tư khá gay gắt, nước mặn không còn ngập sâu mà chỉ đọng lại những vũng lớn, vừa đủ để soi bóng những cây đước đang vươn mình lên với bộ rễ chằng chịt.

Có những nơi nước cạn, vài gốc cây đã chết khô trắng xóa. Khung cảnh lạ mắt này là nơi nhiều nhiếp ảnh gia chọn để ghi lại những ảnh cưới độc đáo cho các cặp đôi. Qua cầu sông Ray, chúng tôi theo hướng dẫn rẽ vào đường nhỏ đi cảng Lộc An.
