Một trong những nguyên nhân phản ánh rõ nhất nhu cầu toàn cầu hoá doanh nghiệp hiện nay đó chính là việc toàn cầu hoá có thể giải quyết được vấn để đảm bảo tăng trưởng trong hoạt động kinh doanh của các doanh nghiệp (Westhead, Wright 2011). Thực tế tại Việt Nam hiện nay, khi các doanh nghiệp đạt tới điểm bão hoà trong việc phát triển kinh doanh, cùng với việc các rào cản thương mại quốc tế đang dần được gỡ bỏ và rộng mở hơn đối với các doanh nghiệp Việt thì xu hướng toàn cầu hoá đang là một xu hướng tất yếu. Các nghiên cứu cũng chỉ ra rằng sau khi toàn cầu hoá, các doanh nghiệp thường đạt được hiệu quả hoạt động cao hơn thể hiện qua sự tăng năng suất hoạt động, hạn chế được rủi ro nhờ phân tán qua nhiều thị trường các nước khác nhau, mở rộng qui mô và có sự phát triển mạnh mẽ hơn. ( European Commission, 2010).
