Thông báo ngày 11/10 của YouTube cho biết số người theo cuộc vòng tranh luận thứ hai qua YouTube tăng 40% so với cuộc tranh luận lần thứ nhất hôm 27/9 vừa qua; trung bình người xem theo dõi khoảng 25 phút trực tiếp qua mạng này.
Tổng thời lượng xem trực tiếp cuộc tranh luận này của người xem trên toàn cầu là 2,5 triệu giờ, cao gần gấp 6 lần so với cuộc bầu cử Mỹ năm 2012. Trong đó, người xem tập trung nhiều nhất ở Canada, Mexico, Australia, Anh và Việt Nam.
Trước đó, cuộc tranh luận đầu tiên đã thu hút được 84 triệu người theo dõi, mức kỷ lục về số người xem các cuộc tranh luận bầu cử Tổng thống Mỹ trên truyền hình từ trước tới nay.
