Luật lao động của nước ta đã được ban hành và áp dụng từ tháng giêng năm 1995. Chúng ta cũng có luật lao động đối với nhân viên Việt Nam làm trong các hãng đầu tư, liên doanh, hay vốn 100% của nước ngoài. Rõ ràng là luật lệ của nhà nước ảnh hưởng đến quản trị nhân sự của Vinashin. Công ty đã không còn được tự do muốn làm gì thì làm nữa.
