Hiện nay, hoa cúc vạn thọ đang được trồng phổ biến. Ngoài việc dùng để trang trí, làm cảnh trong các dịp lễ tết, loài hoa này còn có nhiều công dụng khác như đuổi côn trùng, làm thức ăn gia súc hay làm cho lòng đỏ trứng gà nhiều hơn do làm tăng hàm lượng β-caroten trong thức ăn cho gà đẻ. Ngoài những công dụng trên thì hoa vạn thọ còn được sử dụng để làm thuốc. Theo một số bài thuốc đông y thì loài cúc vạn thọ có vị hơi đắng, mùi thơm và có tính mát, tác dụng là bình can thanh nhiệt, trừ phong, tiêu đờm, có thể chữa chứng hoa mắt váng đầu, viêm kết mạc, ho cảm mạo, viêm khí quản, viêm tuyến ví, quai bị, ho gà, mụn nhọt…Còn theo quan niệm của dược học hiện đại thì loài hoa cúc vạn thọ có nhiều tác dụng dược lý như: an thần, kháng viêm, giúp giãn phế quản, giảm đau và chống co giật.

Cách trồng và chăm sóc cúc vạn thọ

1. Hạt giống:

Trên thị trường Việt Nam hiện nay có nhiều giống vạn thọ khác nhau như giống hoa vạn thọ Pháp, vạn tho Thái trong đó chủ yếu được trồng là hoa cúc vạn thọ lùn và hoa cúc vạn thọ cao. Hoa cúc vạn thọ lùn thân khỏe, dễ trồng và không kén đất, có thể trồng được quanh năm, hoa to có màu vàng sáng, cây cao 45 – 50 cm, thân cành phát triển xum xuê nhưng hoa lại rất nhỏ và không cân với bộ lá. Thời gian trồng từ khi gieo đến khi hoa nở khoảng 55 – 60 ngày.
Hoa cúc vạn thọ cao phù hợp cho dịp tết và cũng được trồng quanh năm, cây cao từ 60 – 70 cm.

2. Thời vụ trồng:

Đây là loài hoa có thể trồng được quanh năm nhưng được trồng phổ biến để phục vụ trong dịp tết.
Hoa cúc vạn thọ lùn được trồng vào đầu tháng 11 âm lịch và muộn nhất vào khoảng 5/11 đến 6/11 hàng năm, hoa cúc vạn thọ cao thì được trồng sớm hơn, thường được trồng vào cuối tháng 10 âm lịch và muộn nhất vào 24 – 25/10 âm lịch.

3. Gieo hạt giống hoa:
