Năm 1992 Honey và Mumford định nghĩa một phong cách học tập là “sự mô tả thái độ và hành vi mà qua đó nó xác định cách học ưa thích của mỗi cá nhân”. Bốn phong cách học tập được mô tả bao gồm những người hành động, người suy ngẫm, người lý thuyết, người thực tế.
