Sinh viên quốc tế (ngoài khu vực châu Âu) đăng ký học tại Phần Lan theo bậc đại học và cao học từ tháng 8/2017 sẽ bắt đầu bị thu học phí.
Theo Study in Finland, Chính phủ Phần Lan quyết định thu học phí đối với sinh viên quốc tế ngoài khu vực châu Âu bắt đầu từ tháng 8/2017. Sinh viên đã nhập học trước thời gian này vẫn được miễn phí. Học phí áp dụng cho các chương trình cử nhân hoặc thạc sĩ bằng tiếng Anh. Trình độ nghiên cứu tiến sĩ hoặc các chương trình bằng tiếng Phần Lan hoặc tiếng Thụy Điển sẽ không tính phí.
