Ơn giời! Cậu đây rồi buộc các nghệ sĩ tham gia thể hiện khả năng ứng biến trên sân khấu khi phải tham gia vào một vở kịch mà không hề biết trước kịch bản.[1] Thứ duy nhất mà họ biết trước là bộ phục trang mà họ sẽ mặc vốn chỉ được cung cấp cho họ khi chương trình bắt đầu.

Khi bước vào sân khấu qua một cánh cửa, các nghệ sĩ được chào bằng một biến thể của câu "Ơn trờigiời!... đây rồi!" từ các diễn viên trên sân khấu. Trưởng phòng và các diễn viên phụ trong phòng thử thách tài ứng biến của nghệ sĩ bằng cách hướng họ theo một kịch bản mở với những ý tưởng có sẵn đồng thời cùng "cương" với họ để tạo ra những pha hài hước trên sân khấu.[1] Các vở kịch kéo dài không có kết thúc, chúng chỉ dừng khi giám khảo Hoài Linh nhấn chuông.[1] Mỗi thí sinh tham gia vào một vở kịch được thiết kế trong một "căn phòng" và cuối cùng 4 thí sinh sẽ thi chung trong phòng số 5 với trưởng phòng Hoài Linh.[1]
