Xây dựng nhà trường theo hướng trường nghiên cứu, trong đó hướng đến việc ứng dụng tiến bộ khoa học kỹ thuật và triển khai công nghệ vào cuộc sống. Các hoạt động nghiên cứu khoa học và chuyển giao công nghệ của trường đáp ứng được yêu cầu phát triển kinh tế - xã hội ngày càng cao của đất nước, phù hợp với xu thế phát triển trên thế giới. Trong giai đoạn 2015-2020, nguồn thu từ hoạt động khoa học công nghệ tăng hằng năm và đạt 5% trên tổng kinh phí thu được vào năm 2020. Một số lĩnh vực nghiên cứu, ứng dụng và chuyển giao công nghệ chủ yếu:
- Kỹ thuật nhân giống nấm thực phẩm và nấm dược liệu (nấm sò, mộc nhĩ, nấm linh chi, nấm rơm); nhân giống nấm thực phẩm cao cấp (nấm hương, kim châm, sò đùi gà, linh chi trắng);
- Công nghệ trồng các loại nấm: Sò, mộc nhĩ, linh chi; trồng các loại nấm thực phẩm cao cấp;
- Công nghệ tế bào ứng dụng trong nhân giống hoa, cây thực phẩm, cây dược liệu (lan, đồng tiền, cúc, dâu tây, ba kích,…);
- Quy trình trồng hoa lily, hoa cúc, hoa đồng tiền, mai dạ thảo;
- Quy trình xử lý bã thải trồng nấm làm phân vi sinh;
- Qui trình công nghệ sản xuất chế phẩm vi sinh, thuốc trừ sâu sinh học các loại;
- Quy trình công nghệ sản xuất thạch dừa;
- Quy trình sản xuất cá hộp, thịt hộp, nước quả đóng hộp;
- Tư vấn, thiết kế các loại vườn hoa, rau, cây cảnh.
- Sản xuất giống nấm sò, mộc nhĩ, linh chi cấp 1, 2, 3;
- Sản xuất nước uống tinh chế; Thực phẩm các loại (đồ hộp, chả, đồ uống, bánh, kẹo,…); Thực phẩm các loại: chả hai lát, cá hộp, tương ớt, nước dứa, đồ uống dạng bột tan,...;
- Chế phẩm thuốc trừ sâu sinh học;
- Cây giống từ công nghệ tế bào: Lan dentro, lan Hồ điệp, cúc đại đóa, đồng tiền, ba kích,…;
- Chế phẩm hỗ trợ ủ phân hữu cơ; Phân hữu cơ vi sinh;
- Giá thể trồng rau sạch;
- Sản phẩm khác: cồn thực phẩm, cồn khô, nước rửa chén bát, hoa Lyly, hoa Đồng tiền, Cúc đại đóa;
- Giống vi sinh vật (nấm men Saccharomyces cervisiae; vi khuẩn lên men giấm Acetobacter aceti; vi khuẩn sản xuất thạch dừa Acetobacter xylinum; nấm đối kháng Trichoderma, vi khuẩn Bacillus thrugiensic; Bacillus subtilis,…).
