Khoa Ngoại ngữ, Trường Đại học Đồng Tháp được hình thành trên cơ sở Khoa Ngoại ngữ Trường Cao đẳng sư phạm Đồng Tháp và chính thức tuyển sinh hệ đại học chuyên ngành Sư phạm Tiếng Anh vào năm học 2003-2004.
Đến năm học 2013 – 2014 Khoa đổi tên thành “Sư phạm Ngoại ngữ”, theo Quyết định số 273/QĐ-ĐHĐT ngày 9 tháng 5 năm 2013 của Hiệu trưởng Trường ĐH Đồng Tháp. . Các chuyên ngành đào tạo: Sư phạm Tiếng Anh (ĐH chính quy, liên thông) Ngôn ngữ Anh (ĐH-CĐ chính quy, văn bằng 2, liên thông) Ngôn ngữ Trung Quốc (ĐH chính quy).
