I Tỷ lệ phát triển dân số
Dân số Việt Nam thực sự bùng nổ trong giai đoạn 1955 – 1960 với tỷ lệ phát triển dân số lên đến 3.75%/ năm sau đó giảm dần tuy tốc độ không nhanh do ảnh hưởng của cuộc chiến tranh ở miền Nam Việt Nam. Sau ngày giải phóng thống nhất đất nước, chương trình dân số và KHHGĐ đã được triển khai trên phạm vi cả nước nên tỷ lẹ phát triển dân số chung toàn quốc đã giảm xuống từ 3% những năm 1065- 1975 xuống còn 2% trong giai đoạn 1980- 1990. Như vậy tỷ lệ phát triển dân số của Việt Nam vẫn còn cao, mặc dù sau khi kết thúc chiến tranh, tình hình chính trị, kinh tế dần phục hồi, đời sống của người dân đã khá hơn, công tác y tế chăm sóc sức khoẻ cho người dân đã được đẩy mạnh, vac xin và thuốc kháng sinh đã được sử dụng rộng rãi cùng với chương trình tiêm chủng cho trẻ em đã làm cho tỷ lệ chết giảm nhiều so với giai đoạn trước nhưng do trong thời kỳ này,tỷ lệ sinh vẫn còn cao cho nên tỷ lệ phát triển dân số còn ở mức tương đối cao.
Năm 1975 xảy ra hiện tượng có một luồng lớn dân di tản ra nước ngoài và đến năm 1978, 1979 do tác động của cuộc chiến tranh biên giới Tây Bắc và Tây Nam đã làm cho tỷ lệ phát triển dân số giảm mạnh. Tuy số người chết trong hai cuộc chiến tranh này không tác động lớn đến tỷ lệ phát triển dân số
