Những thủ tục hải quan và thương mại được tiêu chuẩn hóa, hài hòa và đơn giản hơn sẽ góp phần làm giảm chi phí giao dịch.

Cùng với đó, thuận lợi chung cho các thành viên khi AEC có hiệu lực là sự tự do di chuyển lao động có tay nghề qua biên giới các nước ASEAN, nhất là trong 8 ngành nghề được thỏa thuận công nhận tay nghề tương đương nội khối, gồm: kế toán, kiến trúc sư, nha sĩ, bác sĩ, điều dưỡng, kỹ sư, vận chuyển và nhân viên ngành Du lịch.
