Ðá mẹ: đá sét, đá phiến biến chất, gnai, phiến mica...
Ðây là đơn vị phụ có diện tích lớn nhất trong đất xám Feralit.
a/ Cấu tạo phẫu diện:
Phẫu diện có đủ 3 tầng A, B, C; tầng B tích sét và có đặc tính của B.Argic khá điển hình.
Phẫu diện TQ9 đào tại xã Yên Nguyên, huyện Hàm Yên, tỉnh Tuyên Quang, đá mẹ phiến sét, độ dốc chung 20-250, đất trồng chè, thoát nước tốt.
0-25 cm: màu đỏ vàng (5 YR 5-4/2M), thịt pha sét; ẩm, không chặt, cục bé, xốp, nhiều rễ cây; chuyển lớp rõ về độ chặt.
25-65 cm: màu đỏ vàng (2,5 YR 5/6M), thịt nặng; ẩm; hơi chặt; còn nhiều rễ cây; cục lớn; chuyển lớp không rõ.
65-125 cm: màu đỏ (2,5 YR 5/8M); thịt nặng pha sét; ẩm; rắn chắc; cấu trúc tảng lớn; còn ít rễ cây.
b/ Tính chất đất:
Ðất này có thành phần cơ giới trung bình và nặng, thường có kết cấu cục, lớp đất mặt khá tơi xốp. Ðộ dốc thay đổi từ 15-30o, tầng dầy xung quanh 1m.
Hàm lượng mùn khá, nhưng các chất dinh dưỡng khác như lân và kali tổng số và dễ tiêu ở mức nghèo, riêng đất trên phiến thạch mica có hàm lượng kali tổng số và dễ tiêu ở mức khá. Phản ứng của đất chua và rất chua, độ no bazơ < 50 %.
