phong trào toàn dân bảo vệ an ninh Tổ quốc được thanh niên tham gia với tinh thần xung kích và đạt nhiều kết quả quan trọng. Cùng với đó, thanh niên còn tích cực tham gia có hiệu quả các phong trào, cuộc vận động lớn, có ý nghĩa thiết thực, như: “Tuổi trẻ Việt Nam học tập và làm theo lời Bác”, “Thắp sáng ước mơ tuổi trẻ Việt Nam vì dân giàu, nước mạnh, dân chủ, công bằng, văn minh”, “Xung kích phát triển kinh tế - xã hội và bảo vệ Tổ quốc”,... tạo chuyển biến mạnh mẽ để toàn dân tham gia phong trào bảo vệ an ninh quốc gia, trật tự, an toàn xã hội. Trên khắp mọi miền của Tổ quốc, các mô hình thanh niên xung kích tham gia phòng, chống chiến lược “Diễn biến hòa bình” của các thế lực thù địch; phòng, chống tội phạm và tệ nạn xã hội; giữ gìn trật tự an toàn giao thông; giữ vững cột mốc biên giới, chủ quyền biển đảo được đẩy mạnh, góp phần quan trọng vào sự nghiệp xây dựng và bảo vệ Tổ quốc. Các cuộc vận động: “Nghĩa tình biên giới, hải đảo”, “Hành trình tuổi trẻ vì biển đảo quê hương” và các mô hình: “Làng thanh niên lập nghiệp”, “Đảo thanh niên”, “Đoàn kết ba lực lượng”,... đã thu hút đông đảo thanh niên và toàn dân tham gia. Qua đó, đã huy động sức lực, trí tuệ thanh niên thúc đẩy phát triển kinh tế - xã hội; xây dựng hệ thống chính trị địa phương, cơ sở vững mạnh; thực hiện xóa đói, giảm nghèo, nâng cao dân trí,... trên các địa bàn, nhất là ở vùng sâu, vùng xa, biên giới, hải đảo và vùng trọng điểm về quốc phòng - an ninh, góp phần giữ vững an ninh chính trị, trật tự, an toàn xã hội trên từng khu vực và trong cả nước.
