Trong giai đoạn 2013- 2015, kim ngạch xuất khẩu dầu thô giảm. Nhất là trong giai đoạn 2014-2015, tuy sản lượng xuất khẩu là tương đương nhưng do cuộc khủng hoảng dầu mỏ năm 2015 nên giá dầu thô đã giảm rất nhiều, gây ra thiệt hại hàng trăm tỉ cho các tập đoàn, công ty xăng dầu trên cả nước, trong đó có PV Oil.
Tính đến hết tháng 11/2015, lượng dầu thô xuất khẩu của cả nước đạt 8,35 triệu tấn với kim ngạch đạt 3,48 tỷ USD, mặc dù chỉ giảm giảm 1,2% về lượng nhưng lại giảm tới 49% về giá trị so với cùng kỳ năm trước.
