 Nhóm nguồn tin bao gồm các bên có liên quan trực tiếp đến vụ án, như người nhà Võ Văn Minh, Luật sư, Nhà báo quan tâm, Công an… và những người tiêu dùng khác. Trong nhóm nguồn tin lại được được chia thành 3 nhóm nhỏ, gồm nhóm trung lập – khách quan; nhóm ủng hộ và nhóm phản đối. Hiện nay cả 3 nhóm này đều sử dụng hai công cụ chính, là báo chí và mạng xã hội facebook để làm đầu mối tiếp nhận thông tin.
