Nếu lợi ích thực tế không như kỳ vọng thì sinh viên cảm thấy không hài lòng. Còn nếu đáp ứng đúng với kỳ vọng đã đạt ra thì hài lòng. Và lợi ích thực tế cao hơn kỳ vọng thì sinh viên sẽ rất hài lòng. Trong nghiên cứu này, sự hài lòng của sinh viên được xem như là mức độ thỏa mãn của sinh viên từ những lợi ích mà họ hy vọng nhận được với kết quả thực tế đã nhận được trong khoảng thời gian học ở trường.
