Ở thời điểm đó, việc giảng dạy ngoại ngữ bị chi phối bởi phương pháp dạy truyền thống, trong đó giáo viên là người chi phối mọi hoạt động dạy và học trên lớp và môi trường học tập chủ yếu là môi trường lấy người dạy làm trung tâm. Tuy nhiên, cùng với sự thay đổi của xã hội, phương pháp dạy học cũng thay đổi để đáp ứng nhu cầu sử dụng thành thạo các kĩ năng giao tiếp tiếng Anh ngày càng tăng. Nhưng vì đặc thù của môn tiếng anh rất khó và khô nên rất dễ làm cho học sinh nhàm chán , lười học , chính vì vậy làm thế nào để khơi gợi được niềm đam mê, sự hứng thú, tích cực học tập trong các giờ học tiếng anh là nhiệm vụ của giáo viên trong phần khởi động vào bài ,vì phần khởi đông vào bài là phần đóng vai trò quan trọng., nó góp phần tạo được sự hứng thú, thoải mái, tạo không khí sinh động chuẩn bị bước vào bài học, là ấn tượng ban đầu rất quan trọng. Người học có hứng thú hay không, chính nhờ vào sự khéo léo của giáo viên trong phần khởi động, dẫn dắt này. Vì vậy lớp học có không khí vui vẻ , hứng thú , thoải mái ,sôi nổi đều phụ thuộc vào phần hoạt đông khởi động vào bài .vì vậy phần khởi động vào bài có tầm quan trọng rất lớn trong môn tiếng anh nói riêng cũng như những môn khác nói chung .
