Ngôn ngữ học đối chiếu cung cấp cho hai loại hình nhiều tư liệu cụ thể về cấu trúc và hoaajt động của các ngôn ngữ cùng và khác loại hình, góp phần làm rõ đặc trưng của từng loại hình ngôn ngữ và bổ sung cho loại hình học nhiều hướng nghiên cứu mới.
