Trong 10 tháng năm 2014, hàng hóa có xuất xứ từ Hungary nhập khẩu vào Việt Nam tăng tới 42,2%, trong khi xuất khẩu hàng hóa của nước ta sang thị trường này lại giảm tới 12,2% so với cùng kỳ năm trước đó.
Trong 8 tháng đầu năm 2015, so cùng kỳ năm trước, tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu của Việt Nam sang Hungary đạt 122 triệu USD, tăng 8,3%. Trong đó, Việt Nam xuất khẩu sang Hungary đạt 42,1 triệu USD, tăng 19,3%; nhập khẩu từ Hungary đạt 79,9 triệu USD, tăng 3,4%.
Theo Bộ Công Thương Việt Nam, tổng kim ngạch thương mại giữa hai nước đạt 175 triệu USD năm 2014. Trong đó, Việt Nam xuất khẩu 55 triệu USD và nhập khẩu 120 triệu USD từ Hungary. Mặt hàng xuất khẩu chính của Việt Nam sang Hungary là thực phẩm và thiết bị viễn thông. Tổng kim ngạch xuất nhập khẩu giữa hai nước đạt tốc độ tăng trưởng trung bình 10% mỗi năm và được dự báo tăng cao trong tương lai.
