Điều lệ dự báo dài hạn của văn phòng cho các thành viên của Hội đồng quản trị. Các thành viên của Ban điều hành không thể được tái bổ nhiệm.
Thống đốc của NCB và các thành viên của Ban chấp hành có đảm bảo công việc:
NCB thống đốc có thời hạn tối thiểu là văn phòng của năm năm;
thành viên Hội đồng điều hành của ECB có thời hạn không tái tạo của văn phòng của tám năm;
cả hai có thể được gỡ bỏ từ văn phòng chỉ trong trường hợp không đủ năng lực hoặc hành vi sai trái nghiêm trọng;
Tòa án Công lý của Liên minh châu Âu là thẩm quyền giải quyết các tranh chấp.
